Five and a Half Months Old

These pictures have taken place over the last week. The swing is the new favorite thing to do at the zoo. We look at certain animals together. The monkeys have been entertaining. It's fun to see what they are going to be doing that day. It's always something different, so it keeps it interesting. One was trying to communicate with us I swear. He turned his head to the side, so I did it back and he followed us climbing along the fence as if he was saying "get me out of here". He was lifting his eyebrows at us too. There's also the "oh so cute" monkey with the baby always attached to her back. I wonder if they even sleep like that or if the baby ever detaches. I suppose to eat it would have to. That's just a thought.

Here is the tub episode. My Aunt Connie and Uncle Bruce gave us this tub as a gift for Gwen. We use it to put her dirty clothes in....but don't worry she's laying in clean ones in these photos. To get her to laugh I was saying "Cow-a-bung-ga". She thought it was hilarious.

We went hiking today again. It has become something that I REALLY look forward to each weekend with Adam and Gwen. It's like our time to reconnect with each other and just breathe. I'm trying to get a collage together of wild flowers and pretty foliage from the hikes. Morgan, you'll have to let me know what you photo pros think of them.

I went to a yard sale last Friday. I was so happy about some finds for Gwen. Here are some pictures of her in a jeep walker. It can roll across the tile when she uses her legs. She had the backwards direction down right away. I'm proud of her.

Luau Birthday Party and Hiking

We spent this last weekend doing a couple of fun things. A baby in our play group turned one, so we attended her luau party.

Adam and Gwen are sitting next to our neighbors and Adam's golfing buddy Phil and Kaden. We dressed up a bit for the luau theme. Gwen had her bathing suit on. It had a skirt with it too.

One of Gwen's most favorite things to bite on is the rings pictured here. They are the easiest fun to carry around with us.
They even had a clown there. Can you believe it? People are going all out for a one year old party here.

Adam had Gwen on his shoulders, so Phil had to put Kaden on his shoulders to play chicken with the babies. It was funny and harmless for anyone that is wondering.

I was telling Anne Marie that we are never in the pictures. We only take them of our babies. So, here we are. Unfortunately, Gwen had her eyes closed.

The birthday girl is on the left and Nikki and Hayden are on the right.

On Sunday we three went hiking some where new. We drove around an hour and a half and hiked for two hours. We were starving when we were finished. We didn't bring the camera on the actual hike, but this is the lookout view from the well known Sierra Blanca. There is a ski resort right there too. We drove up to it, since we were so close.

Hiking Pack & Swing at Zoo

Yesterday we tried out the hiking pack with Gwen. She lasted quite a long time in it. We figured it was a 2.5 mile hike round trip, and it took us one hour out and 1/2 hour back. We rushed to get back, because the rain was starting to come down. We just made it to the car before it started to down pour. It was so cute though that she fell asleep even when the ride was a bit bumpy when I was rushing.

We went to the zoo this morning while Adam golfed. He scored a 75 on 18 holes. That's his best, so that was great. Gwen was tired when we got to the zoo, because we had already gone for a stroll at the school campus prior. She tried out the baby swing for the first time though, and the pictures below didn't quite capture her excitement. She really enjoyed it.

Five Months Old Today

Today Gwen is FIVE MONTHS OLD. Can you believe it? Here are some pictures of her in her new sunglasses. They are toddler size, so they're a little big on her. She'll grow into them though. We also have some pictures from dinner tonight. She is so very interested in what we are eating. We set her on the table top in her rocking chair when we eat, so that she can see what we are doing and how we eat. This way we can talk to her too. Well, she is not interested in the toys we hand her anymore. She only wants what's on our plates and going in our mouths. Adam put some breast milk in a plastic cup that I normally drink out of. She loved it.

Play Group at the Play Center on Base

Today was the first time Gwen and I checked out this play center on base. It will be something she'll probably like when she can crawl and walk, but until then she, Hayden and Kaden just laid and sat around. Hayden is the baby that is a day older than Gwen. It was so fun to see her and Nikki. They've been out of town for a while.

Ready to Hike

We stopped at an outdoor store to check out packs to hike with Gwen, and to compare prices. We put her in it to test it out. She seemed to like it, although, she did just wake up from a nap. The price was right, so we ended up getting this one. It will hold Gwen until she's 50 lbs, but we know by that time she'll be wanting to run around instead.

There are quite a few hikes to check out that are roughly forty five minutes to an hour away. This will be ideal for us Fishers this fall especially when the trees start changing colors and the temperature cools off with a nice crispness in the air.

Nearly Five Months Old & Sitting...

Today is Saturday. We talked with our friend Maegen telling her that we'd put pictures up today. I was anxious to put some up of our hike this morning in the mountains, but we left the card for the camera in the computer. Bummer! I did take numerous other pictures today though. We've had a good day. Gwen's attitude is so warm and cuddly lately....especially when she wakes up from a nap. ;) I love that time with her. She rubs her eyes and tries to wake up a bit.

So, here are the pictures. She'll turn five months old on the eight....in four days.
Adam is holding Gwen once we came back home. It was so fun to put long sleeves and pants on her. You know when you get sick of wearing a certain season's clothing and you can't wait to switch to the next? That's how I felt today when I dressed her. Morgan and Jason gave us this cute number. It was super comfy too!
She stands really well when we hang onto her hands or under her arms. She has for quite a while now.

She's reaching for things this last week also. She is reaching for our faces, for us when she wants to go to the other parent, for the water in the sink when she wants to put her hand in it. She's fairly curious about things like that. You can see the wheels turning.

"Mmmmm...chewing on my cow girl from the Siglers is one of my favorite pass times. It's a bonus this morning, because I'm doing tummy time at the same time. "

Toys like this help Gwen keep her mind off of the unhappiness that can accompany tummy time.

"Mom, will you quit kissing me so much!" We love to kiss her on her neck really quickly over and over. It makes her smile.

Her personality is showing through. How fun! I think this outfit is from Patty and Danny. It says "Chicks Rule" and has little chickens on it.

"You make one move , and I'm going for the guns. Any questions?" ha ha

I surprised her on this one. We put the boppy around her while she's learning to sit, so that if she falls over she's cushioned. The idea is thanks to Anne Marie doing that with Kaden.

Look, she still has those cubby cheeks. Gotta love 'um. If she has something to hang onto in front, it helps her sit up.

She's looking at Adam. I like to say she's saying something like, "Com'mon Dad. Get real." Don't you think?

The ball's texture and shape interest her. I think the size difference from the rest of her toys makes it a high light also.

She's tired of sitting up, so she just falls back and lounges.
"Sit back, relax and take a load off. I've been working hard."

Now that she's sitting so well, we're going to sit her up in the stroller rather than in the car seat that attaches to the stroller. This will be so much fun for her on our morning walks with Anne Marie and Kaden. She can look out rather than just looking at the sky and Mommy. The stroller is a great one, because it can be pulled down to cover her as far as you want. Here I have it pulled down almost completely. We went to get the mail and it was a scorcher out there. She just awoke from a nap, so she's still sleepy here. Even though she smiles a lot, she can be quite the serious baby too.

See, here's her happy face!
