Happy Birthday to Adam

On the 27th Adam turned a year older. We were both glad that he was still in Colorado, so that we could spend it together. We celebrated by going out to dinner. Adam drove up to Denver and met me at work. We went to a European Cafe called Yia Yia's. It was very nice sitting out on the patio and catching up on the events of the day.

After dinner we came home and had some cake. It was German chocolate. Adam had told me that was his favorite. Now, the funny thing is that our friend Dan thought the cake was a hamburger when he saw this photograph. The explaination is that we have one round pan and one square pan, so I combined them. It tasted the same non the less. ;)

Then, the next day we met up with our friends Dan and Elizabeth Dolton. We met them in Boulder at a Moraccan restaurant called Mataam Fez. We had heard of this place from a popular magazine of the Denver area called "5280".

It was quite a different experience. It is one that you will remember. We all really enjoyed it. You take your shoes off, sit on cushions on the ground with pillows at your back and eat with your hands. They wash your hands with Lemon water while we used towels draped over our shoulders as napkins. The lighting was very low. Everyone but Kim had some Moraccan wine. It smelled and apparently also tasted very spicy and flavorful. The dishes were extremely authentic. Adam has a cornish hen. I had some vegitables with couscous. Dan had a spicy chicken. And Beth had a spinach pot pie Moraccan style in a flakey casing. Here's a photo of us when we were all finished.

O.K. Here's my lame excuse for the reason that the pictures are not where I wanted them to be. I am tired, and am glad that they are up on the blog. Just imagine the editing/ illustration was done correctly. :)

Move Update

Tuesday marked my final day as a member of the 2d Space Operations Squadron, Global Positioning System (GPS) Operations, Schriever AFB, CO; and as I pulled away from the glow of the ray-domes, I was overcome with a sense of melancoly... for we are leaving Colorado behind... but we are starting new adventures in lovely... Alamogordo, NM????

That is, once we sell our house.

...Oh yes, the house. Kim and I have gotten nothing but positive feedback including: "Great house!" "Loved the layout!" "Worth every penny you are asking for it!" and yet... nothing, plenty of lookers, just no offers. Actually time and again people would buy the same floor plan for $10-15K less, and would be "happy" with a poor lawn, a lower quality of land scaping, and less upgrades throughout. Its with this in mind that Kim and I have lowered the price $4K... prehaps this will at least spark an offer. As it stand, it looks like I will be making the trip from the 'Ghetto to Castle Rock every/every-other weekend for the forseeable future. But Kim and I are trying to remain positive... the good news is Kim is only 9-weeks along, and she has been able to keep her job... plus we are only 7-hrs apart. This experience will end up making us stronger and more wise.

First Doctor's appointment

Anticipation had been rising for this visit. We had good and not so good events happen. First of all, the blood drawing was an episode with the nurse wiggling the needle around and blood dripping from my arm while she was in there still. Then we were told they don't take our insurance anymore, even though they have in the past. I started to shed some tears. They kept rolling out. The first thing I said was, "Can we transfer the blood that was drawn to my new doctor?" I certainly didn't want to go through that again. The answer was no.

Now the bearer of the bad insurance news felt sorry for us , so she worked some magic and had us sneak in for an ultra sound. We had to keep it a secret from my doctor, so it was exciting. From the ultra sound we found out that I'm 7 weeks along. That calcs out to a due date of March 2nd. It was .808cm long. The doctor called it our little grain of rice.

Adam is still asserting the fact that it's a boy.....we'll see.
