Blue Skies in Winter?

This one if for everyone that has the gray sky syndrome of winter. I'd like to call it sharing of the blue sky rather than bragging. ;)

"Reunited, and it feels so good!"

Go, Gwen, go!!!

This Madame Alexander doll from Bummie was one of Gwen's Christmas gifts. She's saying a form of the word baby now. Pretty adorable!

Visiting Grandma Vicki and Family

This picture is at the play area at the mall nearby. Gwen is really close to walking. She's getting very brave.

My uncle Charlie is my Mom's brother. He is very good with Gwen. The extended family had dinner out last night and Charlie sat by Gwen. He would share his food with her and graciously share his napkin too. He was a very good sport with the mess that comes along with those that are just learning to eat solid foods. Thanks Charlie!!!

Unfortunately I didn't get all of the family pictured in this one. Ryan, Bruce, Reid, Charlie and Diane has already left, but pictured from left to right is Jami and Nevayla, Loren, Jane, Mom, Gwen and Bummie.

We have watched two of my niece Brooklynn's basketball games. Gwen was cheering loudly with the rest of the crowd. It was hilarious.

Nevayla is my cousin Jami's baby girl. She is just three months older than Gwen. They interact together very kindly and Nevayla is even sharing already.

We all meet up at my Mom's house for play dates with the babies.

The mall nearby has a new play area. Gwen had an absolute blast following the other kids around and going down a slide and crawling over this pictured bridge. It's only been open for a week, so it is very clean. We'll hopefully be able to go again.

One of Gwen's favorite things to do at Grandma Vicki's is to go up and down this thresh hold. It is tons of fun!

We have visited many family members. Rory is a great care giver to children.

Here wer are at Bummie's house. Having family around lifts spirits and brings great joy to her.

My long life friend Sheila gave birth to Briel early November. We were both home visiting family, so we had a good time catching up with more time than the quick meetings we've had for the last 11 years. We're more or less like sisters, so we care greatly for each other's little babies.

The Zoo and Pet Store

The theme of animals is sticking around as far as our activities. We were passing by the porcupines just as they were being fed.

These next pictures just make me smile. The reaction to the animals was classic. There were lots of "oooooo"s coming out of her mouth. She wanted to give the rats kisses even. Lora would be proud. That's what she has claimed before...that the rats were giving kisses. No thanks. I'm not convinced. ha ha ha

I did not get a picture of her watching the dogs getting groomed. She could stand on a bench and watch through a large window. If we lived closer, we'd do that more often. It's almost like having the thrill of owning a pet without the responsibility and costs. I know it's a different story once you establish a relationship with a pet, but for now this is what she's getting.

The fish were three tiers up and stretched across a large wall. It was a little over whelming for her I think.

Ten Months Old

She just turned ten months old. These pictures will be fun to look back on down the road. She's getting enough hair now that I can put a barrette in it finally. I love that. She is pulling herself up on furniture all of the time now. She is only saying "mama" and different forms of dad. She will just "ahhh" loudly for Adam mostly. She loves dogs now and loves looking at pictures of dogs. She will crawl all over the house to follow me. We play hide and seek now and she laughs at it. We read the singing Elmo book everyday now, and she sings along by "uhhh"ing the tune. She also dances by bouncing up and down when she's standing at the musical table from JoAnn and Chris. She's also transfers from one piece of furniture to another occasionally.

Christmas in Connecticut

The blog was not working for me until now, so the Connecticut pictures are here finally.

Here's Gwen with her famously know favorite credit card. It's not worth anything, so if she'd lose it there would be no problem. She loves biting on it. This was taken on Christmas day. JoAnn and Chris hosted Christmas for their two boys and significant others, Patty and Danny and Joe and Lisa. We had a fabulous spread of food as usual, and fun was had by all.

Danny was great with Gwen and she liked discovering his face. The facial hair is a different thing for her, since Adam needs to keep it shaved for work.

Here Grandma JoAnn is enjoying Gwen's presence.

She is moving quite a bit now. Food, toys, dogs and people she loves motivate her. It's great to witness the changes and advances.

This is my favorite picture of her on Christmas day.

Here Gwen's great uncle Joe and aunt Lisa are pictured. We were all chatting in the living room for much of the day. It looks like Gwen is having a good time. Good job Joe!

She's having some Mom time here. It was so nice to see her with all of the family. She was very well adjusted. She didn't mind sitting with anyone else. Life is good.

A million thanks to Patty for taking such good care of Gwen. She was gracious enough to watch her, feed her, put her to sleep and last but not least keep an eye on Ty (the dog) around her while we all went to a Broadway show of Young Frankenstein. It was fantastic. I wasn't familiar with all of Mel Brooks' productions. Now I'm with it. JoAnn rented Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein movies. What a talented man Mel is.

Here's a great one too!

Here's the famous Tiberius. He and Gwen didn't know what to think about each other at first. Ty had not been around a baby before and likewise with Gwen being around dogs. By the time we left, the two had bonded I believe. When Gwen would cry Ty would be so concerned. Gwen was timid for quite some time around him, but at the end was reaching for a pat or a rub whenever possible. He is a dalmatian and black lab mix and was extremely calm with her. His excitement is what led to the constant licking. That was the only thing we had to watch out for. What a good dog.

Grandma and Grandpa are dancing with their grand daughter here. Ahhhh!!!

Adam's classic way of carrying Gwen around. We visited JoAnn's place of employment which is Trader Joe's. Gwen was given this fabulous and beloved balloon. Whenever we are out and she sees one she "oooo"s for it.

Elmo's introduction..... She needs to grow a little more to understand this little guy.

Chris refinished this special rocking horse for his boys years ago. Gwen was able to hang onto it herself with a spotter nearby just in case. She liked it. There were many new experiences for her to enjoy.

Andrew and Corrie came over for dinner quite a few times. It was so great having Gwen spend time with them. Adam and I enjoyed our time spent with them too of course. Corrie is starting a mobile dog grooming business and Andrew is now working at Enterprise car rental. They are both doing well and can't wait for their wedding this coming September 6th.

JoAnn, Chris, Gwen, Adam and I visited Mystic Connecticut's aquarium. We are watching a beluga whale show here. They performed amazing stunts.

The whales' water is pictured behind.

Everyone liking the show. Gwen looks a bit concerned actually.

Someone, we're not naming names, became side tracked by Adam's ears.

One of Gwen's favorites was the tropical fish. One was blue and that seems to be what her eye is drawn to these days. It's really funny. Every blue piece from her toys is what she picks out. Today Adam, Gwen and I went to the fitness center and she was playing while we worked out on some machines. She was carrying around three blue pieces at once and trying to manage it while crawling and trying to pull up on a small table.

We three went hiking in New York. This pack is Adam's old one from his childhood. We put towels in it to support Gwen and make her more comfortable. She seemed to like it. It was a bit chilly, but we had a blast.

This is us on our way to the trail. Nothing was going to stop us from getting some sunshine and fresh air.

We had a great time visiting family this past month. Thanks for everything once again!

Where to Begin

I apologize for not posting for so long. As many of you know I'm working on making the blog private. It will still be able to be seen by friends and family that visit this site, so don't worry. But until then I will give some postings to catch you all up with the Christmas happenings.

This was the second week in December that Gwen was beginning to really crawl more often. It just took a interesting reason to get her going. Here it was the pretty gold bows on the gifts. She was a magnet to those.

Peek-a-boo is definitely a favorite game of hers.

She was moving so much that she somehow got into this position all on her own. She loves biting on the cold soda cans. I was just cracking up when this happened.

I had to share these creative and yummy cupcakes with you all. I wish I could have given you all some to eat. After making them I had to make sure we didn't eat them ourselves.

Gwen and Leisl are playing while we made the cupcakes.

The overalls need to be fixed a bit, but I had to post this one.

This was taken at my Grandmother's house. Merrick and Gwen had a good time together. Jackson is in the background. He's the same age as Merrick.
We tried to get the babies/ toddlers to all sit together for a picture, and this was an attempt.
Here's Santa's little helper.

This was the first time Jami and I had a chance to meet each other's babies and that the babies met each other. Nevala is three months older than Gwen. It was so much fun spending time with them.
This one had more character with the girls interacting.
This one is a my Grandmother's house again. My Aunt Connie is holding Nevala and Jackson and Jami are also pictured.
Here's the last of Jami and Nevala. We are going to see them again in January, and I'm very happy about that.

I'll post another time soon to add some pictures from our time in Connecticut.
