Ultra Sounds and More of New Mexico

I have been wanting to share these ultra sound pictures for a long time. The date they were taken was Oct 13th, so the baby was 20 weeks along. In two days, we will be begining the 25th week. WOW!

The first set of pictures has a great shot of the backbone development and the baby moving around in profile view.

The second set top picture has a thumb sucking shot with the belly looking full. I think she is moving a lot in the bottom picture in this set. Everything is blurry, but it's still neat to see. ;)

The third set has a foot print in which I think I can see a bunion. I am sooooo sorry for the kid if she inherits that from me. The bottom picture in this set shows the bones in the arms, hands and legs in great detail. I think she was covering up her face by crossing her arms. What a little cutie!

Today I scheduled an apppointment with a new OB doctor at the Alamogordo hospital. It is a new facility, and I actually asked a woman in Walmart who had a new baby if she delivered in town. She said her husband is in the Air Force also and that she really liked the hospital here. She said her baby was four weeks early even and it was a smooth process. It's nice to hear what other's opinions are of the hospital. She told me good luck. It is sort of like a big family of people in the same situation as us. They move to an unfamilar place and just simply figure things out. She understood why I was asking and that made it a comfortable conversation. So, our next doctor's appointment will be Dec. 1st. Adam is getting every other Friday off of work. We schelule them so that he can attend them all. That will be the begining of the 3rd trimester or the 27th week. Then we can set up some classes and tour the hospital hopefully to get an idea of our experience will be like here.

On another note, Adam and I have been busy here. We are scoping out the area, so that when people visit we know where to take you and what to show you. We went to a musical at the university called "Seusical". It was only $6 a ticket. The play was written from Dr. Seus inspirations, but it had a twist of originality. The actors were people from the town and/ or University. We really enjoyed it. It was nice to get out and see some other people in the town.

We also drove East into the San Andreas Mountains. One hour East is Cloudcroft. It even has a ski area. The temperature drops significantly up there, so layers of clothing are a good thing. We came across an apple orchard, and purchased some apple and raspberry cider and some pistachios. The nuts were grown just 13 miles north of Alamogordo. We love them!

After that stop we drove through Cloudcroft, and took a low trafficed road to the town of Ruidoso. This town is like an Estes Park of New Mexico. It had many souvinier shops and eateries. We ate at a Mexican restaurant that was voted the best in Ruidoso. Being up there gave us a feeling of being back in Colorado. We even had to slam on the brakes for a large deer to cross the high way. I grabbed Adam's arm while he was driving, but he hadled it very well. It's one of those things that made your heart beat like crazy, and it was slightly funny in hind sight. I told him that he handled it very well and calmly, and he then asked me to not pull on his arm next time. In the spur of the moment, I didn't even know that I did that. ;)

We also tried a new church on Sunday. It was a Lutheran church that had a traditional service like we are use to and comfortable with. The congregation was 99% elderly and somewhat small, but they had multiple services. We went to the early service. We may try it again, but we are definitely going to try other churches in town first. There are many churches in town to choose from.

Well, that's Alamogordo in a nut shell so far.
