Back from Puragatory

I returned to CO late Thursday night to stay with Kim over the weekend. I don't know what to think of my new job yet as they have yet to really define it for me. I'll be working in a Squadron with about 100 people (20 which are military) and all of which are engineers... meaning I will have to get used to "that" type of humor/personality (or lack thereof.) I am holding off on making a judgement until after I've been there a while...

I am working near what the locals call the monkey farm... This is the place where the first astronaut came from, it also the place where they have tested on monkeys with HEP A/B, AIDS, and other more sinister things... None of that occurs now, and the monkeys that remain are retired living out their days. The cages shown in the picture are abonded with the remaining monkeys living inside.

While I was in 'the Ghetto' I took some time to stop by 'our' new house... Kim and I have the right of first refusal on the home since May and apparently there have not been any other acceptable offers to the builder.
We wonder daily why that is... our going theory is the neon teal trim that comes with the house... and perhaps that landscaping (or lack thereof...) Thoughts?

As far as NM was concerned, it was not nearly as hot as I imagined, and the desert is going through a strong version of its annual monsoon season. I believe it rained at some point every day I was down there, some of the downfalls pilled up the inches. In fact, El Paso was completely flooded on Wed... the good news is the drought is over, and we can go play in the surounding hills...

Changing the subject to CO... Kim had her second (but first offical) appointment yesterday. We are now 10-weeks, 2-days along... with the due date of 2 March. This appointment was a meet and great, although they did take Kim's blood... but she deemed the nurse amazing in that she cause Kim no pain. It was the best experience Kim has had with drawing blood. Last night we ventured to the theater to see "Talladega Nights... the Ballad of Ricky Bobby." The movie is a satire of the American red-neck, Nascar culture that has engulfed the nation. Although the critcs will hate it, its the type of movie that will do real well at the box office b/c its a silly, stupid movie that fans can quote for some time. (The question is... will the majority of the fans know what they're laughing at is a satire?) The movie is not in the same league as other sports comedy greats (see: Caddyshack, Waterboy) but is a movie worth seeing... and for you ladies... even Kim laughed. Overall: two thumbs up for me... one for Kim.

To close, I leave you with a tribute to our house, and the CO summer sky. This picture was taken in late June during a neighborhood wiffle-ball golf outing... and has not been altered. Until next time... "Au revoir Ricky Bobby"

Good to hear about NM. I bet one of the reasons the house you're interested in doesn't have any other offers is that most military people might prefer living on base or not buying, but renting instead.

Glad Kim's experience with the nurse was better than the first time! And she won't need another draw until the sugar check around month 7/8.

We want to see that race car movie too. Stupid humor is a great thing sometimes. =)
